ZyRed is a three column, widget ready Wordpress theme with flexible width. The content column has a minimum width of 468 pixel, making the theme well prepared for ad placement. ZyRed is based on the code of Ainslie Johnsons theme wp-andreas09.
The theme is free. You are allowed to use it on private and commercial websites, but you must keep a link to my website. So you may keep the footer unchanged or put at least some credits and a link to www.zyblog.de somewhere on your blog.
Tested with wordpress 2.3.x, 2.5, 2.6 and on Firefox and IE7.

Installation
It’s very easy. Just extract the ZyRed folder from the ZIP file to your themes directory. Activate the theme in wordpress.
Notes
The default page template is not capable of displaying comments. If you want to do this, use the included template “page w. comments”.
Localization
The theme is prepared for localization. Only one file needs to be translated. Read more information about localizing wordpress themes here.
Known Issues:
Don’t use the theme without widgets. The display of the wordpress build-in sidebar elements like “category” and “recent-posts” is not perfect. If you use the widgets, everything is fine.

After spending hole night to solve the problem, I need help from experts.
I am totally beginner in PHP and wordpress, have setup my first draft page one week ago and facing now problems.
conditions:
wordpress 26.2
language-switcher (http://www.poplarware.com/languageplugin.html)
theme Zylog 2.7.2
1) Problem double home-button:
After changing setup to use static page,I have two buttons in the horizontal menu for “home”.
Solution I realized:
edit header.php and commented like following:
Maybe someone has a better idea.
2) Problem “language switcher”:
I have fully installed the language switcher and it works fine for most of the items.
To use pages bilungiual they must marked with e.g. [lang_en]English[/lang_en] or [lang_de]Deutsch[/lang_de]
So far it works fine with text content and also with the name of the pages. You can see nice working in “sitemap”.
BUT not with the horizontal menu of this theme.
I used different other themes:
It works with also with “WP-Andreas09 l10n”
But NOT with “ZyRed” and “WP-Andreas09″
Therefore I hope someone can help to solve this problem.
Seems that it is absolute related to these themes.

To remove one of the double “home” links you did the right thing. Removing the hardcoded link in header.php line 66 is the only way to do this with my ZyRed theme.
I am not sure about the language switcher problem, as I have not seen this plugin before or even used it. I think it manipulates the
wp_list_pages()function of wordpress.The themes wp-andreas09 and ZyRed use a custom function to display pages and subpages instead the internal
wp_list_pages()routine. See lines 68 to 70 in the file header.php of the ZyRed theme.If you don’t plan to use subpages you could try this:
Remove line 68 and 70. Replace the functionname
wp_andreas09_navwithwp_list_pages.This might work. If it does, please let me know.

So far I already tried. I have no knowledge of PHP-commands, but I compared the different themes-files. Yes, just using the wp_list_pages:
works fine, but without subpages.
A pity, because this was just one of the great features of this theme. I like to use it.
Hope I can reuse it on later.
How does the language-switcher works: This plug-in is using a filter function with “gettext” to analyse all text before sending to browser. Depends on the language settings the right expressions will be shown. Details you can find on the webpage of the plug-in.
Unfortunately some plug-ins and themes (like yours) must be adapted. Hard for me as newbee, but a challenge to find out how to change the wp_andreas09_nav routine, that it will work with this plug-in also.

The theme works now with all languages. I could modify the function from Andreas.
- open function.php
- searched for $title
found two times one for parent and one for child module
- exchanged to apply_filters(‘the_title’, $title)
Tim, please just check it and maybe you can add it in your next release, that then will work also with language-switchers.

after one month of hard work, the theme Zyred from Tim is in great use. It works fine with the language switcher now. I also have created a chinese language file. If someone need it, just let me know.
Still the “more”-tag does not work and I don´t know why ?

der Seitenkopf ist über eine Grafik gelöst. Du musst dazu die Datei bodybg.png im images Verzeichnis entsprechend deinen Wünschen anpassen.

1. Mit dem Browser Explorer wird die Seite zentral dargestelltundd mit Firefox Linksbündig? Weiss einer warum?
2. Ich würde gerne unter den einzelnen Artikeln die Tags anzeigen lassen. Was muss ich dafür machen?

bei eigenen Änderungen am Theme gebe ich eigentlich keine Support, aber hier hat es mich doch interessiert.
1) Eigentlich stellt der IE die Seite falsch dar. Im ursprünglichen Stylesheet habe ich den #container DIV mit width: 100% definiert, damit der Header über die gesamte Seitenbreite geht. Du hast eine feste Breite wegen deinem Headerbild definiert. Firefox stellt korrekt links beginnent dar und hört dann auf. Der IE zentriert wieso auch immer die ganze Seite.
Versuche mal die Headergrafik nicht in den #container DIV zu packen, sondern in den #sitename DIV, vielleicht bringt das was. Denn #sitename ist der eigentliche Titelbereich.
2) Die Doku zu den Tag Tags gibt es hier. Die kannst du einbauen, wo du willst. Die single.php wird wohl der richtige Ort dafür sein.
Nebenbei darf ich sagen, dass du da eine schöne Seite hast. Vielleicht können wir mal zusammenarbeiten. Eine Seite mit Film-Thematik habe ich schon ewig vor, aber im Moment einfach zu wenig Zeit noch etwas neues zu machen.
Erstmal danke ich dir für den Support und werde bei gegebener Zeit mal versuchen die Änderungen vorzunehmen. Leider bin ich weder Programmierer noch sonst irgendwie besonders bewndert auf diesem Gebiet. Ich teste einfach durch bis es fuunzt

meine Antwort: Ein entschiedenes Jein
In der aktuellen Version gefällt mir die Basis, also das HTML und CSS Gerüst des Themes, nicht mehr. Auch fehlen einige Erweiterungen für die WordPress Versionen 2.7 und neuer.
Diese neuen Funktionen nachzurüsten und weiter zu pflegen ist mir im Moment zu aufwändig.
Allerdings gefällt mir das Design selbst noch immer sehr gut. Wenn mich die Arbeitswut packt, erstelle ich ein ZyRed “Reloaded” auf neuer Technik-Basis. Inklusive aller aktuellen Wordpress Features, besserer SEO-Optimierung usw.

. Da werde ich dann sicher umsteigen. Hab dir letztens wegen nem Fix gemailt. Kannst da vielleicht nochmal schaun, ob du was für mich machen kannst?

hallo! ich verwende das coole ZyRed theme auf der website http://www.naturfreunde-wilhelmsburg.at – allerdings möchte ich verhindern, dass für jede unterseite eine neue zeile im menü hinzukommt. kann ich das durch konfiguration verhindern, oder bleibt mir nur der weg das im php code von index.php zu ändern?!
